Merlin Knowles, D.Min
Elder Knowles and his wife, Cheryl, have been best friends for more than 45 years, and have been married for 39 years. They have two sons by birth, and gained two more daughters by marriage. The Knowles have two granddaughters and three grandsons.
Elder Knowles gradated from WWC (now WWU) in 1979 with a B. A. in Theology. Pastor Knowles interned following graduation in the Idaho Conference and later continued his studies at Andrews University earning his M. Div in 1982.
After graduation the Knowles returned to pastoral ministry in the Idaho Conference. In 1988 they moved to the Northern New England Conference pastoring three different districts before being asked to be the Executive Secretary and Trust Services Director for the aforementioned Conference. Elder Knowles served in this capacity form 2005 until 2010. Pastor Knowles and his wife, Cheryl were also Co-Family Life Leaders during the same time.
In 2010 Elder Knowles received his D. Min degree from Andrews University in Family Life Studies. The Montana Conference extended Elder Knowles the invitation to be its president in 2010.
Elder Knowles enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Cheryl, his children, grandchildren and cherished hobbies such as water skiing, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, working with his hands to create beautiful projects, and saw playing.
