The mission of the Montana Conference Children’s Ministries is to develop and nurture faith in children birth to 14 into a loving serving relationship with Jesus.
The Bible makes it very clear that children are special to God as well as bringing joy and blessings to adults.
Children need to be taught how to develop a relation with God. Every child needs someone on his/her side to convince them that God is on their side. What would happen if we treated every child like they matter to God? Seeing children as being made in the image of God can change not just how you see them, but how they see God.
While Sabbath School provides for religious education once a week, Children’s Ministries seeks to provide many opportunities that will lead children to experience the unconditional love of Jesus, find assurance of His acceptance and forgiveness and disciple them in their daily walk with Him. God enjoys the nature and personality of children and asks adults to learn from them.
Children’s Ministries should train, empower, and equip volunteers for effective ministry to children. When children are given opportunities for hands-on service to others in their neighborhood or city, we may establish hands-on service in their neighborhood or city that will continue throughout life.
Our churches must adopt safeguards to protect children from physical, emotional and spiritual abuse. Choose volunteers with high spiritual and moral backgrounds. Insist that anyone who works with children has completed the Shield the Vulnerable background check. (Contact the Conference Office for more information.) It is also wise to not have anyone working with your children until she/he has been a member of your church for at least 6 months.
